1. There was a dying soldier boy Lay near the battle field.
His comrades gathered 'round him And by his side did kneel. At length he raised his drooping head And a murmuring word he said: "Oh, who will care for mother Now her soldier boy is dead ?
2. "Go, tell my old father
In death I prayed for him;
I prayed that I might meet him
In a world that's free from sin
His son he lies dying
At the batde of Mill Springs.
